EU absurdárium, Facebook ovládající svět, Hofyland opět na prodej, létající kolo, LEGO se omlouvá, e-mail slouží phishingu. Co přinesl právě končící #tyden.

How Facebook plans to take over the world je doporučené čtení pro zdejší komentářové exoty, kteří si stále myslí, že Facebook je bezvýznamná úchylka a nikdo na něm není. Jedno velmi dobré a realistické shrnutí od Guardianu.

Snapchat denně zaznamená 10 miliard zhlédnutí videí. V únoru to bylo 8 miliard. Snapchat má přitom přes 100 milionů denních uživatelů (a to je starší údaj z loňského roku). Jeden by tak teoreticky měl v průměru vidět 80 videí denně. Radši nebudeme řešit, jestli to je či není reálné, co myslíte? Viz Snapchat users are watching 10 billion videos a day.

Vystopoval svůj ukradený notebook. Teď musí zaplatit odškodné 173 tisíc lidem, co ho měli u sebe vypadá jako další absurdita, ale chce to se hlouběji začíst. Třeba do toho, že na internet "z frustrace a jen tak" dal i jejich choulostivé fotografie. Ale jinak je tam absurdit mnohem více.

Vydavatelé blokující blokátory inzerce prý porušují pravidla EU. Tedy pravidla týkající se soukromí, alespoň se to tvrdí v Ad-blocker blocking websites face legal peril at hands of privacy bods. Mělo by to být založeno na tom, že skripty v prohlížeči přistupují k "osobním datům" o uživatelích, a ti by k tomu měli dát souhlas. Teď ještě doufejme, že EU bude tak striktní i u té záplavy inzertních systémů, které dělají totéž. Blázinec.

Optimalizovat (SEO) web jen pro Google ho může poškodit pro jiné vyhledávače. Píší to v The dangers of ‘Googlizing’ your site a zmiňují tam Yandex či Baidu, ale my všichni můžeme přidat ještě i Seznam.cz, který, ač vyhledávač, zůstává roky v minulosti a "optimalizace" pro Seznam je něčím úplně jiným než pro Google.

Nezapomeňte, 27. července se OneDrive zmenší na 5 GB. Tedy pokud jste měli víc a neudělali nic pro to, aby se váš prostor nezmenšil (původních 15 GB jste si mohli zachovat návštěvou OneDrive webu do konce ledna). Tak nezapomeňte před 27. červencem zkontrolovat, kolik místa máte v OneDrive zabráno a zajistit případný úklid. Jak dopadne mých 41 GB (15 GB, referral bonus, camera bonus a loyalty bonus)? Na to jsem zvědavý, ale 15 GB jsem si v lednu kliknutím pojistil.

Cloudové úložiště Bitcasa končí k 20. květnu. Pokud si do té doby nestáhnete data, budou smazána. Původně služba nabízela "neomezené" úložiště, teď uvádí, že s řešeními pro spotřebitele končí a bude se věnovat B2B. Viz BITCASA DRIVE DISCONTINUED.

Jedna z legend českého internetu je (opět) na prodej. Vyvolávací cena za Hofyland je ale tentokrát pouze 37 tisíc korun. Otázkou je, co si počít s něčím, co vydělává 2 500 Kč a i po doplnění AdWords má dost nízkou návštěvnost. Ale byly to hezké časy, když ještě neexistoval Facebook a český internet žil na tomto a pár dalších diskuzních serverech.

Zuří Emojigeddon aneb boj o budoucnost Unicode Consortium, tedy organizace, která se stará o Unicode, jednu z mála jistot, že se na internetu dokážeme domluvit alespoň v písmenkovém projevu. Viz Inside “Emojigeddon”: The Fight Over The Future Of The Unicode Consortium, kde zjistíte, že základní rozpor je v tom, jestli zpřístupnit starší jazyky (a znakové sady) nebo přidávat emotikony. Vážně. A neváhejte, je to zajímavé čtení.

SOFTWARE

Tvůrci Doomu, Romero a Carmack, se pouští do nové hry jménem Blackroom. Mají na to Kickstarter, kde chtějí vybrat 700 tisíc dolarů. Viz BLACKROOM: A New FPS from Romero & Carmack.

Microsoft blokuje Google Chrome a další prohlížeče z Cortany v posledních Windows 10. Prý je to tak správně, protože je to dobré pro uživatele a také aby držel krok s tím, jak to dělají ostatní. Jasně. Ale nám v Česku to může být celkem jedno, nám pro jistotu blokuje Cortanu kompletně. Viz Microsoft blocks Google Chrome & other browsers from Cortana in latest Windows 10 release.

Jelly se vrací. Q&A aplikace a služba, něco jako vyhledávač se sociálním základem, se pokouší o návrat poté, co první pokus skončil kvůli nezájmu (poprvé spuštěno v roce 2014). V Q&A oblasti se ale nikomu moc nedaří - stačí vzpomenout na to, jak daleko došly služby jako Yahoo Answers, Answers.com, Askville, CahCha, Facebook Questions, Keen, Rewarder, Quara či Vark. Už v roce 2006 ve VW jeden z šéfů navrhoval dodat software ovlivňující emise. Do automobilů od VW a Audi se dostal v roce 2009, později i do dalších Audio a Porsche. VW přitom doposud tvrdil, že jeho vedení o celé věci nevědělo. Viz Report: In 2006, a VW executive suggested adding illegal software to diesels.

Mozilla se prý chce zbavit Thunderbirdu, ale podle posledních zpráv zevnitř firmy to vypadá, že jediným doporučeným řešením nakonec je ponechat ho v Mozille, byť v "novém uspořádání". Viz Thunderbird is GO: Mozilla prepares to jettison mail client, kde je ještě řeč o tom, že by mohl skončit u Software Freedom Conservancy (starají se například o git, Inkscape a QEMU) a další zajímavý kandidát by byla Document Foundation in Germany, GNOME Foundation, Software in the Public Interest.

Player Two, reklama, která není dílem Microsoftu. A vlastně to ani není reklama. Povedené:

Drony čeká rychlý růst, zpomalení a další rychlý růst někdy po roce 2022. Alespoň to říká analýza, o které se dozvíte více ve THE DRONES REPORT: Market forecasts, regulatory barriers, top vendors, and leading commercial applications a je nutné dodat, že masové využití dronů pořád naráží na mnoho zádrhelů.

Ano, poněkud originální létající kolo. Nebo jak tomu chcete říkat:

MARKETING A KOMUNIKACE

Odmítnutí prodat kostičky čínskému disidentovi Ai Weiweiovi dnes Lego označuje za chybu. Chtěl Lego použít jako součást umělecké instalace v Australské národní galerii a bylo mu to znemožněno. Lego tehdy prohlásilo, že neschvaluje využití kostiček pro politické práce. No jasně. Hloupé nápady hloupých lidí, které zbytečně poškozují značku. BEZPEČNOST, SOUKROMÍ, PRÁVO

Pokoušel se proniknout do serverů Facebooku a našel tam zadní vrátka. V How I Hacked Facebook, and Found Someone's Backdoor Script nejdete hodně zajímavé čtení o tom, jak se někomu podařilo najít 0day zranitelnost, pomocí které pronikl až do útrob Facebooku. Při tom ale zjistil, že už tam někdo pronikl před ním a poměrně dost dlouho získával přihlašovací údaje zaměstnanců a mohl dělat řadu dalších věcí.

Hack bangladéšské centrální banky začíná mít nepříjemné následky - hackeři totiž kompromitovali SWIFT software. Viz Ochranu mezibankovního systému SWIFT prolomili hackeři, tvrdí firma nebo Exclusive: Bangladesh Bank hackers compromised SWIFT software, warning to be issued, kde se dočtete, že to je nejspíš ještě vážnější, než SWIFT připouští - ono kompromitovat klientský software pro SWIFT, používaný v tisících institucí a bankách, je dost závažný problém. Už jenom to, že je něco takového vůbec možné.

Dobrá otázka: kdo bude zodpovědný za bouračky aut bez řidičů? Who's Responsible When a Self-Driving Car Crashes? píší o tom, že výrobci aut budou muset nakonec zodpovědnost přijmout.

Servery ČTK byly napadeny hackery a ČTK upozorňuje uživatele na nutnost změny hesel. Píší to sice velmi opatrně, ale v takovýchto případech je potřeba být dostatečně paranoidní, takže pokud jste v ČTK či ve Fotobance ČTK měli e-mail a heslo, tak to heslo považujte za kompromitované a nepoužitelné. Viz též Další útok. Po webu ČSSD hlásí napadení i servery ČTK.

Getty Images se přidává k antimonopolnímu tažení proti Googlu. Stěžuje si na změny v Google Images a tvrdí, že jimi Google podporuje pirátství (agentuře vadí přímé zobrazení obrázků ve výsledcích vyhledávání). A také, že Google zvýhodňuje sebe sama v otázce návštěvnosti i inzerce. Viz Getty Images Joins EU in Antitrust Complaint Against Google. A Search Engine Land k tomu má velmi podařený titulek: Copyright bully Getty Images complains to EU that Google coerced it into image search.

E-mail je nejpopulárnějším nástrojem pro phishing. Což nakonec těžko může překvapit, byť velkou šanci ohrozit ho na první pozici mají sociální sítě. Viz Email 'most popular phishing tool', kde uvádějí i to, že nejčastěji jde o snahu cíle phishingu okrást a také to, že cílem jsou velmi často firmy. 30 % phishingových mailů mířících do firem bylo v roce 2015 otevřeno, oproti 23 % v roce 2014, a ve 14 % se zdařilo spustit připojený malware.

Amazon podal žaloby na pět webů, které zveřejňují falešné recenze. Viz Amazon Files Lawsuit Against 5 Fake e-Book Review Websites, kde se dočtete, že je žaluje za porušování známkového práva a požaduje, aby přestaly prodávat falešné recenze a navíc dovedly Amazon k těm, kdo je píší. SOCIÁLNÍ SÍTĚ

Nejpopulárnější software pro správu sociálních sítí? Podle Future of Social Marketing od SocialFresh je to Hootsuite (44 %), Buffer (14,1 %), Sprout Social (12,5%), Tweetdeck (8,8 %), Simply Measured (7,7 %), Sprinklr (4,5 %), Salesforce (4,5 %), Hubspot (4,2 %), Iconosquare (4,2 %) a Sysomos (2,9 %). Některé jsou použitelné zadarmo, jiné jsou placené (nebo alespoň freemium), a pokud jste ještě nezkoušeli, tak je možná čas si je projít.

Twitter se integruje s Yelpem, což je hodně špatná zpráva. Yelp má ve většině zemí (a u nás zejména) stále nejenom hodně nedostatečná data, ale hlavně faktický nezájem o cokoliv. Viz Twitter integrates with Yelp for location tags in the UK and Japan, bypassing Foursquare. Prozatím tedy Velká Británie a Japonsko, ale už nějaký měsíc to běží i v Německu. V USA by stále měla platit původní integrace s Foursquare. Podobně špatně to dopadlo s Instagramem, který místo Foursquare integroval Facebook Places, a je to stále stejná katastrofa.

Twitter umožní nahlásit víc tweetů v jedné stížnosti. Viz Report multiple Tweets in a single report. Ale pamatujte na to, že nahlášení obvykle nic moc nepřinese a stejně jako u Facebooku posuzovatel málokdy tuší, která bije.

Pořídit si selfie v hlasovacím boxu při volbách v USA (v New Hampshire) není povoleno. Snapchat a ACLU to chtějí změnit. Viz Snapchat joins the ACLU in fight for your right to take selfies in the voting booth, kde zjistíte, že si někdo v roce 2014 usmyslel, že tohle se prostě nesmí. Nakonec to vyšší soud zrušil, ale New Hapmshire se odvolal a trvá na svém.

Twitter dělá, co může, ale nic nefunguje. The Verge to komentuje v Nothing Twitter is doing is working v pohledu na čtvrtletní výsledky (menší příjmy, mizivý růst počtu uživatelů, atd). Není divu, zatím Twitter dělá maximum pro to, aby noví uživatelé nenastoupili, a nic pro to, aby - když už nastoupí - dokázali zmatenou sociální síť pochopit.

MOBILNÍ APLIKACE

Mobilních chytrých telefonů se meziročně prodalo méně. A to nejenom u Applu. 3% meziroční pokles celkem (na 334,6 milionu kusů za čtvrtletí), jednička Samsung hlásí 4,5% pokles (na 79 milionů) a dvojka Apple 16% pokles (na 51,2 milionu). Rovio chce, aby lidé v kině na Angry Birds vytáhli mobil. Tedy až při závěrečných titulcích. A taky vypouštějí miliardu BirdCodes. Prostě využít film je potřeba ve velkém. Není ani příliš divu, Angry Birds jsem na mobilu spustil naposledy tak před dvěma lety. STARTUPY A EKONOMIKA

The Science of Social Timing Part 1: Social Networks berte samozřejmě s rezervou, protože skutečnost bude závislá na cílovce, kterou si na dané sociální síti vybudujete. A také jsou zde dost zásadní rozdíly mezi zeměmi, takže posuzovat podle dat z USA je pro Českou republiku poměrně nevhodné. Ale v infografice i doprovodném článku The Best Time to Post on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram in 2016 najdete užitečné věci. Má to mimochodem ještě dvě pokračování, Timing and Email Marketing a Timing and Blogging.

Rovi kupuje TiVo za zhruba 1,1 miliardy dolarů a zůstane jako společnost TiVo. Jak píší v Rovi acquires DVR company TiVo, bude mít na šest tisíc patentů a hodnotu 3 miliard dolarů.

V Silicon Valley řeší bublinu a objevují to, že by startup mohl mít i zisk. Dřívější "růst za každou cenu" přestává být módní. To bude legrace, až to dojde investorům, kteří některé výtržníky nechávají roky spalovat desítky milionů dolarů, aniž by existovaly nějaké reálné obchodní výsledky. Hodně užitečné čtení najdete v Silicon Valley startups are terrified by a new idea: profits a WHY THE UNICORN FINANCING MARKET JUST BECAME DANGEROUS…FOR ALL INVOLVED.

Pád Theranosu pokračuje a čím dál tím více se ukazuje, že všehoschopné testování z kapičky krve bylo dost daleko od reality. V Theranos’s Fate Rests With a Founder Who Answers Only to Herself se dočtete o kriminálním vyšetřování, zkoumání několika federálními úřady a otazníky nad tím, zda a jak Theranos uvedl v omyl investory. U těch se zadařilo tak, že Theranos měl ohodnocení na 9 miliard dolarů. Aktuálně to spíš vypadá, že Theranos skončí.
